Putt-Putt-Putt-Putt

That's what Drew calls Putt-Putt. He adds as many Putts on to the end as he feels necessary. I took him there the other night and we played a round of golf. He did really well, using the smallest of the real putters they had since they didn't have of the big plastic putters. He never hit the ball too hard, never hit it out of the box, and lasted about 14 or 15 holes in all. He almost made it in two shots on hole, but whenever he would make a good shot he would pick it up and take it back to where he hit it from to try again. The second try never really equaled the first though. Next time we will have to hit the range and let him try to hit some balls for real. We couldn't get out of there without playing some arcade games too.

Then I went crazy. I was off Friday and of course wanted to go to the St. Jude Classic golf tournament. However, I also wanted to spend time with Drew. And since the golf tournament is having trouble finding a sponsor and may not exist next year I decided to take Drew with me. Yes, it was a disaster. I carried him 80% of the time or more, we watched maybe three total golf shots, there was a lot of whining, we spent money on food, drinks, and at the merchandise tent, and we lasted a little over an hour. But it was also wonderful. Drew still thought it was cool getting to go to the golf course and watching the real Putt-Putt-Putters. I still got to spend time with him and share one of my favorite things with him before it might be too late. We even saw the "crazy pants golfer," better known as John Daly. And I got my Pronto Pup. Drew was too busy talking to the girls to watch golf anyways. The beer girl at the food tent told him how cute he was and what pretty eyelashes he had(and no I wasn't buying beer at ten in the morning with my three year old, she approached him). Then he got similar comments from all the girls working in the merchandise tent. Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it back out there this weekend, but at least I got to have some fun with Drew. Hopefully the tournament will go on and we will enjoy many more years together. But just in case it doesn't at least we got to go once, no matter how little golf we saw and how tired Dad's arms are today.
