Drew loves the Wizard of Oz. It started out innocently enough. He was at Papa and Gigi's one night when it came on TBS. We were all surprised that he wasn't scared of it, but that he in fact would not stop talking about the witch. He first began to imitate her laugh when you asked him what she said. From day one he had a little trouble pronouncing witch correctly. It still usually comes out with a "b" at the front instead of the proper "w."
One day a few months ago Drew was throwing a fit and I happened to remember that I had the Wizard of Oz on DVD. By some fluke, I had gotten it in error when ordering a DVD online, but the company just told me to keep and sent me the correct one. Well I decided to put it in and see if it would calm Drew down. Ever since then this has been our favorite movie. He would watch it nonstop on continuous loop if you would let him. He still loves the witch, but usually says he wants to watch "Lion" when he is ready to see it. He began to imitate the lion next, crying and saying "lion cryin'." From there he has started to imitate the entire movie, singing, dancing, laughing, crying. He quickly was able to answer what each of the characters sought from the Wizard. He basically has the whole movie memorized and starts telling you about things before they even happen. Now he loves the commercial on TV that features the Scarecrow and Toto and starts laughing whenever he sees it. His newest things are to say "we're not in Kansas anymore," and to beat on his own or someone's chest like the Tin Man.
Below is a first for the blog: video. In the first Drew is singing "We're off to see the Wizard, the wonderful Wizard of Oz, because, because, because..." and so on. In the second video he is answering questions about the movie. Enjoy.

SBEC (in southaven) is doing "The Wizard of Oz" next week for their spring musical! You should take him! I think they do a couple of shows during the day. You could call for a schedule! (662) 349-3096
