We Turned One!

About a week and a half ago the blog turned one year old. Unfortunately I missed the big event, but I guess that's pretty predictable at this point. I realized it a couple of days later, but I didn't want the celebration to interfere with my last post and the celebration of a real birth. I would like to say that a big party was had, complete with an Elmo or Baby Einstein theme, but that was not the case. It has been a lot of fun doing this over the past year. I have to say once again that this was all set up for Katie to do, but she still has not made a single post. I will have to get better at keeping up with things.

I'm sure I will have plenty of pictures and stories once football season rolls around. We are ready for it at our house. Drew has already been talking about it for more than two weeks. He is ready to see Coach, Pouncer, and Tom the Tiger(or Thomas the Tiger as he sometimes calls him).

Meanwhile I'm in the NICU at the Med this month taking care of tiny babies. I have never been so scared of someone so small before. The NICU is its own little world and there are a lot of things that take time to get used to over there. I am on call once every four nights this month. It felt really great to get a month behind me and feel like I accomplished something at the end of last month. That feeling came crashing down the next morning when I got to the NICU at 5:30 in the morning. I realized that there is no break, just moving on to the next month and that I was exhausted. The week has gotten better as I learn more about how to do things there and what to do. I am like an old man in many ways, but most in that I do not like change. Just like it was in medical school, once you get used to something and how things work, it's time to move to the next rotation. Only unlike medical school I don't get the weekends in between rotations off anymore. At least I got my first real paycheck and that was pretty nice. Katie and I went out to Bonefish Grill to celebrate. We also paid off some bills to celebrate.

Anyways, happy birthday blog!
