Other goings on in our life include the Zoo Brew a couple weeks ago. It's a festival, nay a veritable cornucopia, of beers from around the world. It's a great opportunity to taste many different kinds of beer and find some new and interesting tastes. This year did not quite match up to last year(video below), but it was still a great time. The biggest drawback this year was the little tasting cup they gave you at the entrance that you had to keep to get all the beer samples in. By the end of the night there was no cleaning out all of the previous beer and various tastes began to mix. My stomach did not appreciate all this mixing as much as it did last year either. But I can't complain too much about a beer tasting event. Pictures below include Katie and I, my parents, and Brad and Sarah.
We also visited the zoo last week despite the fact that they weren't offering a world of beers. Drew, Katie, Missy, and Walt met me in between clinic and my ER shift later in the afternoon/evening/early AM. We visited the birds and got to feed them. One of them thought my hand was a tasty treat. It was a little cute at first, but got to be pretty annoying and a little gross. I wondered if maybe I could have called in to my attending and let them know that I wouldn't be coming in that night because I was covered in disgusting bird germs. Don't worry, I bathed in the alcohol sanitizer. Also Drew loves riding this plastic cow in the farm area of the zoo. I'm not sure why, but at least that face is awfully cute.
And finally, there is Dr. Drew. I'm not sure yet if he is going to be an orthopedic surgeon or a neurologist, but he sure likes to play doctor by beating your knee with his hammer. He also loves for me to listen to his heart with my stethoscope and then take his own turn on Katie and me. At first I thought this was an awful game, why would I want to come home and imitate what I do at work. But then Katie was wonderful enough to point out what a miracle it is that I have the privilege to listen to my own child's heartbeat and that made everything a little better.
And past the finally stage is our Memphis Tigers, who may have to be laid to rest sometime in the near future. They didn't just lose to MTSU last week, they were embarrassed. Badly. If only UT didn't have Lane Kiffin as their coach, maybe I could come around and root for them. That and the fact that I expect Florida to lay about 60 on them tomorrow. I wonder if any other SEC schools are taking applications for fans? It would be so easy to like Florida(as I already have a pretty big man crush on Tim Tebow), but I don't really consider them to be in the South. Fortunately, Memphis gets to play UT-Martin tomorrow. I predict a 42-17 victory. Yes, for the Tigers. Yes, the ones from Memphis.
Wow, what a long post. Hope it didn't put you to sleep, but then again, this is the Bedtime Stories.

So sad that Drew has been sick. Hope he has a speedy recovery. We like the idea of the tent and ZO mentioned it to the people in his program as an option. Hope you are well despite the flu at your house.
So glad the flu is gone. Drew looks so offical with the stethscope! His picture on the cow is so cute!
The zoo brew was fun - glad you included us.
Oh my! You guys got the swine flu! So sorry to hear that! So far, we don't know any one up our way that has gotten it! I hope it stays that way! Glad to hear you are recovering!
Chris and I both have the swine flu right now. I feel your pain.
