Musings, Parental and Otherwise

  • Drew has really taken off in regards to imaginative play lately. It's like he developed a whole new imagination over the time of a couple of weeks. All of the sudden he is serving invisible food, playing invisible baseball games, and probably a lot of other things that I haven't even noticed yet.
  • Drew remembers the most random things. It can be something that you might have thought you said or did just in passing, but he will remember it and bring it up repeatedly, even weeks later. He won't stop talking about me hitting some old golf balls into a ditch near my parents house a couple of weeks ago, or about when we had to go back home to get money to go to the Arlington HS baseball game. There are many, many more examples. Random.
  • Drew won't stop talking. As I've said before he gets this from his mother, but it's like he has reached a new gear now.
  • I have been spending a lot of time with him since I have been off lately, and for the most part he acts great. But in the last couple of days it's like he has realized that he hasn't met his quota for acting up for the day and he will just start yelling "NO!" Yesterday he even asked for a spanking and said please and all. Katie and I don't know what to do about this at all.
  • I know it has been all the rage for a couple of seasons now, but can we please stop including LOB as the fourth magical statistic to go along with runs, hits, and errors on a Major League boxscore. Is it in rebellion that errors isn't all that important to justify it's place up there either? Now that Fox highlights the runs and then lists the other three in normal type I sometimes catch myself forgetting to look at the run because it looks different.
  • I have mentioned before that we go to Huey's a lot. We used to have our own personal waitress, Stefani, before she moved away. Fast forward to med school and I became friends with Stephanie, a girl in my class. Well, now she happens to date Stefani's brother-in-law. We went to his surprise 30th birthday party downtown at Rio Loco Saturday night and had a great time. Pictures below.
  • Also a couple of pictures from Arlington in April, because with everything else going on the weekend before last I failed to post any from it. Drew had a great time riding a little train they had and driving yet another fire truck. We got a purple ribbon to paint Arlington purple for the upcoming Relay for Life.

  • Bonus video: Drew has been saying that Sarah is his buddy lately. Although yesterday he told Gigi that she was his buddy. Looks like he is finally learning how to butter the grandparents.
