Allie's 20 Weeks Old

We just finished up a great little weekend here! Friday I went out to the golf tournament and then met the family, my parents, and Brad and Sarah and a couple of their friends at Buffalo Wild Wings for Trivia Night. Trivia is one of my favorite things in the world. I remember growing up watching Jeopardy with my mom or grandmother. And most Saturday nights when I was younger we would cook out steaks at my grandmother's house and end the night with a game, usually either cards or Trivial Pursuit. I was so good at such a young age that even my own family members would accuse me of staying up at night and memorizing the cards. Unfortunately, about everyone from those games except me and my mother have passed on now and no one I know is quite as enthusiastic about trivia or wants to take me on in a game. In medical school I would go out with friends sometimes and they would have a large group play and I think there are still some who go most weeks, but it's all the way downtown. Since we have discovered Friday trivia at BWW's though my thirst has been at least somewhat quenched. Anyways, we have played a few times there now. We have done decent the other times, but you can have as many people on a team as you want and we have lost out to much bigger teams previously. This time, however, we led from the outset and we almost led wire to wire. Unfortunately, the last question got us and we came in third.

Saturday night we had a family baby shower down in Olive Branch at my Aunt Linda's house for my crazy cousin Joey and his wife Liz, who are having a baby boy in the near future. They live in Greenville, SC- see previous posts for our love of this city, and so the baby shower was friends, family, couples, etc. Which meant men were invited. Which was fine. It was a wonderful and most decidedly Southern affair. It started outdoors, in our lawn chair, with sweet tea, lemonade, BBQ, hot dogs, sundresses, sweltering heat, and people sitting around talking. However, a big storm and wind came up which forced the party inside. They got many nice things I am assuming, as I will admit I didn't pay all that much attention to that part. We also had a nice time reconnecting with Joey's brother and my other cousin, Jeff and his wife Sarah. Oh yeah. That morning was spent working in the yard and washing the cars. So of course it rained that night for the first time in weeks. Basically all I had to show for my day's work was a bad sunburn on my back and shoulders.

Sunday we went to church and heard a great sermon on God's Will from Dr. Al Mohler, the President of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, recorded from Bellevue the week before. Then I headed back out to the FESJC at Southwind for Seersucker Sunday with Brad and Sarah. It was great except that it went into a playoff and we were watching the end of the tournament from the large video board on the 18th green while the tournament was ending on the 12th hole, the 3rd playoff hole. After that we had dinner at my parents house, with the best part being catching fireflies with Drew and playing some hoops outside with the family.

Whew, didn't meant to spend that much time on the weekend. Allie. She's 20 weeks old now. And forgive me that I haven't had a post dedicated to her since she was something like 6 weeks old. Honestly, she hasn't really been doing a whole lot. Obviously I'm joking. She has been doing new and wonderful things each day. Her best quality is still the beautiful curl in the top of her hair which I'm amazed is all still there. It looks brown or auburn most of the time. She has the best little smile and laugh and she loves to talk. She wants to put everything in her mouth except her pacifier. She loves to just sit and eat on her hands, her feet, her blanket or anything else in the vicinity. She's also getting big. So big that she is verging on becoming a chunk. She has the cutest little cheeks that are so pinch-able. She is still a great and happy baby unless she is hungry. If so then you should put a bottle in her mouth and get out of the way. There's barely time to even burp her. We still call her a myriad of names, including Allie, Allie Beth, Allie B, Allie Elizabeth, Allison, and Allison Elizabeth. Take your pick.
