Disney Day 1: Magic Kingdom

Last Monday was our first full day at WDW and we left early to head out to the Magic Kingdom. Our resort had a boat that took us right up to MK. As you can tell Drew was super excited. I'm just not sure if he was excited to be on a boat or to be at Disney World. Ever since we had told him we were going he had been obsessed with Cinderella's castle. So we made a beeline straight to it when we got there. I made us all stop for some pictures first though. I think he may have been a little disappointed that there wasn't really anything to do there, but not much. Then we headed into Fantasyland to start on the rides. I think "It's A Small World" was first, with Peter Pan, Dumbo, and Winnie the Pooh afterwards. Somewhere in there we watched a 3-D movie called Mickey's Philharmagic, where Donald steal Mickey's blue magic hat. From that point on Drew was now obsessed with Mickey's magic hat- more to come on that in a couple days. But then we rode the Tea Cups and happened upon Winnie the Pooh and Tigger for our first character meeting, where we got a great family photo.

Next we headed to Tomorrowland and got some lunch. Then Drew had to do the Speedway, even though he wasn't quite tall enough to drive yet. While in Tomorrowland we also saw the Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor, an interactive comedy show with the Monsters using computer puppeteering. It was hilarious and Drew loved it. We rode the boat back to the resort and rested for a bit before heading out to dinner. We ate at the California Grill, which is at the top of the Contemporary Hotel, and one of the signature restaurants. The food was good, but the best part was the observation deck where we had a great view of the sunset and the Magic Kingdom. You can actually stay there for the fireworks, but we had to go back to the MK to see Disney's Electrical Parade first. We finished the night with the Wishes fireworks show and Drew fell asleep on the way back to the hotel for a great first day.
