St. Louis 2012, Part 1

The last weekend of September the family went up to St. Louis with my parents to see a ballgame and have some fun. We rented a van and the crew picked me up from work on Friday afternoon to make the trip up there. We went to dinner that night at our favorite Italian-Spanish spot on The Hill, Guido's Pizza and Tapas. We had some pizza and some tapas before heading to the hotel for the night. Since the Cardinals and the Rams were both in town that weekend it was hard to find a hotel room and we ended up staying at the Embassy Suites at the airport. Call me if you never need to find out how to get to the road that actually gives you access, because Google Maps doesn't know. We had to call the hotel to figure it out even though we were sitting there looking at the building.

The next morning we went to the Magic House, which is St. Louis' children's museum. The kids had a blast playing with the bubbles, acting as judge and President, building Lego's, climbing, and all sorts of other things. Allie took care of the babies in the hospital but wouldn't put on a white coat for me to take a picture of her. I think her favorite part was putting these balls and scarves in this set of tubes that acted like a wind tunnel and blew them back out at you. Katie even took her turn as President. Then Katie and Drew defied death in the super scary electrical ball room and touched the electric ball which made their hair stand on end.

After that we went to the neat little downtown area in Kirkwood where the Magic House is located. We went to the Kirkwood Station Brewing Company for lunch, which takes it's name from the train that runs nearby as if you couldn't guess that. They had good food and delicious beers, including their Pumpkin Ale which tasted like a piece of pumpkin pie in a glass. They also had great live music which made for an enjoyable afternoon eating and drinking outside as the weather was perfect. That night we headed down to the Cardinals game- more pictures to come from that.
