Tiger Baseball Clinic

A couple of weeks ago we had an opportunity for another post game Tiger clinic, this time with the baseball team. Drew and I went there after Sunday lunch and we got there around the 5th inning. It was a beautiful day and we got to see the Tigers beat Southern Miss. Then Drew got to go on the field to do drills with the team. He was grouped with the youngest ones, although I do have to say he was pretty advanced among his group. In the first drill they took turns catching fly balls. Then they moved into the infield to catch ground balls. Drew loves the fact that he is number 7 and has played mostly at third base this year and that the Tigers third baseman is also number 7 and also named Drew. He got to catch some ground balls from him and even got to dive in the dirt some, which he loves too.

Then they went to throw some with the pitchers. Drew tried to pair up with the oldest kid in his group, but he already had someone to throw with him. It actually worked out because Drew ended up getting to throw with one of the Tiger pitchers. He thought this was the coolest thing ever. He also had three other players kneeling down next to him and they were all amazed that he was only 6 and that he was throwing it that hard and that well. They told him he had a "cannon" and Drew still repeats it every time we throw now. Then they went inside to their batting cages to take some swings. Drew got hit with a bat on a follow through from another kid and got a little bruise right above his eye. The worst part was that he missed getting to see the Tigers number 7 and we had to ask another player to see if he could come out of the locker room. He did but he had already taken his uniform off. Drew ended up being just fine and had another unforgettable day!
