Our household has definitely enjoyed this year's version of the summer Olympics. What Michael Phelps has accomplished has been amazing, and I won't soon forget the must see events that he provided. However, we got Olympic fatigue soon after the swimming was over. Other than the showboating of Usain Bolt and the twelve year old Chinese gymnasts, the second week has lacked the excitement of the first week.
Not that we still haven't had it on every night. And Drew has definitely been paying attention. If you ask him to swim he will now get down on all fours and begin to either crawl or kick his legs. He will go stand against the wall and wait for you to yell "Go" so that he can take off running. The child actually got mad one night because he was saying "boat, boat," but there was no rowing to be found. He has also enjoyed seeing the horses in the equestrian events and making his horsie noises. So maybe we too will one day have an Olympian, perhaps in swimming, track, truck noises, messy eating, or even in the food toss. Here's to 2024 or so.
