Shoeless Joe Karate Kid

I thought I would make this post all about Drew since he has been a little out of the spotlight lately. Also, Allie will be 4 weeks old tomorrow and will get her own special post. I know it has been a couple weeks since I posted, but it is really tough having a wife, two kids, and being gone every 4 nights on call at the hospital. I feel like I get to spend very little time with Allie most of the time since she doesn't do a whole lot and sleeps most of the time. Plus when I am home I have an adoring 4 year old who always wants me by his side no matter what we are doing. So we have been hanging out a lot and I have been trying to take time to do special things with him. This weekend has been a big movie weekend. Even though the Encore movie channels may show a lot of cheesie movies, they also show a lot the classics from the 80's and 90's that I grew up watching over and over again. Just this weekend we have watched parts of Field of Dreams, A League of Their Own, The Sandlot, and The Karate Kid. I love introducing Drew to these movies and hearing him repeat the lines.

Today we went to see the Memphis Tigers play baseball and had a great time as he is getting old enough to finally teach him more and more about the game. We were even able to get a foul ball as we were walking out that we have been playing with all day now. He is about to start tee ball in a couple weeks and Papa and Gigi got him an aluminum bat for Valentine's Day that we have been practicing with too.

As I have said in a previous post Drew has been doing karate for the past couple of months now. Yesterday he had his first "test" and graduated up to his new belt, now white with a yellow stripe. I wasn't able to go, as I was post call and finishing my day at the hospital. I don't think he really minded that I wasn't there, but I hated missing his first big sporting event.

Other pictures are us just hanging out and being silly. One day he had me wear his reindeer ears and mustache glasses and pretend I was Santa Claus. Today he wanted to wear his life jacket he uses in the pool sometimes and sunglasses to pretend that he was a scuba diver. In the one where he is wearing the hat I'm not sure if he's a train conductor, a construction worker, or playing the drums. You never know what he will think of next.

Come back tomorrow for a post about Allie being 4 weeks old and catching up on all of her pictures from the last 2 weeks.
