The NICU has claimed another month of my life- December 2011. And so I'm
behind on blogging once again, including most of the month of December.
One milestone event occurred on December 10th when I turned 30. I
didn't really want to turn 30, but it turned out that I had no choice.
At least I was able to have a great birthday weekend to soften the blow.
On Friday the 9th I went to eat with my family at Bosco's, where they
served me a cake and gave me presents. The cake was a cookie cake, my
favorite, featuring several special pictures from the last 30 years.
Brad and Sarah gave me a CD and a fogless mirror to use to shave in the
shower, my parents gave me my new Wallabees and a Dukes of Hazard
t-shirt, and Katie and the kids gave me a sweater from Vineyard Vines.
Brad, Sarah, Katie, and I then took the after party down to Tunica,
Mississippi. We hit Harrah's Casino and started out playing some slots.
Then I played some roulette and hit number 11 for a big win. I won a few
more bucks playing blackjack to cap off a great night. The next night
on the 10th Katie and I went out on the town. We ate dinner at Alfred's
on Beale and then bought some tickets on the street to see Bob Seger and
the Silver Bullet Band at the FedEx Forum. We had an awesome time being
the oldest people in the arena. I am a Seger fan and he did put on an
awesome show despite the fact that he is 66 years old. He played all of
his hits, making it well worth the money and a great way to finish off
my birthday weekend. I think I've handled being 30 pretty well up to
this point, although I'm already starting to dread that next milestone
birthday.
