So, I messed up a little bit on last night's post. Because I dropped our camera and broke it we had to use Drew's camera the rest of the trip. Drew's camera is really our old digital camera. Well, I left off some pictures from Day 2 because they were in 2 different folders because they were from 2 different cameras. Anyways, here are some more from Day 2. Allie was content to sit on a beach towel and play with a bucket of sand most of the time. I would put some shells in there and give her a shovel and she had a blast trying to find them. She did not want any part of her legs to be touching the sand though. The other three are from dinner that night at Lulu's, all prior to the ring incident.
And now we're on to Day 3. It was the last day that Katie's mom, brother, sister-in-law and our niece and nephew were there, so it was the last day for pictures of the 4 Yauns together. The girls spent the morning at the outlet malls, so the guys had another day to themselves. It was so awesome the first time that we went back to the Naval Air Station at Pensacola. This time we went to the Pensacola Lighthouse first. Drew had been talking about wanting to climb up to the top of a lighthouse for at least a couple of months. I'm not even sure where he got the idea, but of course on Day 1 we happened to see the lighthouse as we left the Naval Museum. Well that was all he had talked about the next 2 days, so we had to go.
He was barely tall enough to be able to do it. It's 177 narrow, wrought iron steps to the top. I had to take my shoes off because you can't wear flip flops. Luckily Drew had on tennis shoes. The first 50 steps or so were no problem, but then we started to get pretty high up there and I started to get nervous. Drew did a great job holding onto the rail and going in front of me. The last 20 steps were rough, but then we made it to a platform. We had about 10 more steps to go, straight up. We finally made it and enjoyed the beautiful view from the top. The guide at the top was able to help me convince Drew to step outside and walk around it. Once he did he loved it. We got to hear some stories about the lighthouse and then it hit me that now we had to make it back down. I kept a tight grip on Drew's shirt and we stayed right on the rail. It seemed to take forever, but we made it back down in one piece.
Then it was back to the Naval Museum. There was an entire hangar that we hadn't even got to see the first time we were there. I'm glad we went back too, because it the more modern planes like Tom Cruise's famous F-14 Tomcat that we got to see this time. There were also more places for the kids to sit in the planes and pretend to fly too. We went back and spent the rest of the afternoon at the beach before taking some family pictures and going to Mikee's for dinner. I'll have the family pics in a separate post due to the length of this one.
