OBA 12: Days 0 and 1

The Friday before last we left for a week long vacation to Orange Beach, Alabama. I had clinic that morning, but we were able to head out shortly after that. It was our family- Katie, myself, Drew, and Allie- plus Katie's mother, brother, sister-in-law, and their two kids- our nephew Walt and niece Mary. We kind of carpooled down there together. Of course we had an incident in Mississippi. I had my phone navigating us to the final destination, so I asked Katie to find us a gas station when it was time to stop for a break. Well, somehow we got a little turned around and almost got ran off the road, which led to a short argument. Otherwise it was a fine trip down there and we even made it through Mobile by sunset. We arrived at the condo a short while later and the kids were very excited about their room, which was done in a pirate theme. They even had clothes to dress up in as you can see.

The next morning was cool, cloudy, and windy. We went out to the beach for everyone to get to see it and then headed inside to hit the pool. That afternoon it was raining, so the girls rested and the guys took a trip to Pensacola to the National Naval Aviation Museum. It was awesome. There had to be over 100 airplanes there, ranging from WWI era to modern fighter jets. There were on the ground and hanging from the sky. There were airplanes and helicopters everywhere. They also have multiple, intricate models of different aircraft carriers. As many times as we've been to Orange Beach and Gulf Shores, we had never gone to this museum and we were really missing out. We had to go a little faster than I would have liked considering we had a 2 year old and 5 year old with us and we only got there a couple hours before it closed. Since it was raining and cloudy a lot of the pictures didn't turn out all that great. I got a good one of Drew posing with the Blue Angels below. We went to Calypso Joe's for dinner that night, a good place located on the marina in Orange Beach. I had some delicious Mahi Mahi and grits. I've never had such a great rainy day at the beach.
