One Last Hurrah!

Today we sent Drew off to kindergarten. More on that later. However, this last weekend we had one last hurrah! It was really a crazy weekend. Katie, Allie, and I went to a gender reveal party for my co-chief, Stephanie, who is having a baby girl. Drew elected to go instead to the Redbirds game with my parents. It ended up being a good choice for him. It was Elvis bobblehead night to kick off Elvis Week, so he got two of those(one for me). He also happened to get 3 baseballs. Yes, three. The first he got from going up to the visiting team's dugout and asking for one. The next an usher gave to him after he missed a foul ball. The third he and my dad basically took from a little girl. He also managed to get a Redbirds t-shirt out of the deal. Allie was Team Boy all the way at the party, wearing her blue glasses, but ended up on the losing end.

Saturday morning Drew and I went down to the FedEx Forum for the Grizzlies Open House, which was basically them trying to sell tickets. We went to see Tony Allen, Grizz, and the locker room, though, and we had an absolute blast. Drew got to take shots from out on the court, wearing his Grizz jersey and he got a free Z-Bo headband. Then we stood in line to get an autograph from Tony Allen. He loved my shirt so much that he took a picture of Drew and me and tweeted it from his account! If you are familiar with Tony Allen and Twitter at all then you should know that it's kind of a big deal. He loved my Memphis Tams throwback shirt. The Grizz wore Tams throwback jerseys throughout games last year. The Tams were an old pro team in Memphis in the 70's. Then we got to take a tour of the locker room and met the Grizz himself. Drew then got painted as the Grizz. I did my best impression of Richie Tenenbaum with my Z-Bo headband. It was a great morning that I won't soon forget.
