Avett Bros or Best Concert Ever

We got back from Orange Beach on a Thursday night about a month ago now. The next day, Friday, was a truly great day. First I got to stay home with the kids and hang out all day with just me, Drew, and Allie. Katie was off doing things with her friend whose wedding she was going to be in that Saturday. The best part of our day was going to Verizon and getting my iPhone 5. This was my first time to get an iPhone and it was a great decision. I haven't looked back since giving up my Droid. But the best part of the day was later that night when I had the privilege to see the best concert ever. I went with a friend since Katie was at the rehearsal dinner for the wedding, which I had gotten permission to skip. It was the Avett Brothers down at the Mud Island Amphitheater. The weather was perfect. I have been listening to the Avett Brothers occasionally over the past couple years, but really got into them pretty heavily over the last 6 months. Translation- that's about all I've listened to and not only do I know all of their songs, but I play them so much that the kids know of all of their songs as well. They played a good mix of new and old songs and it was especially a great night because the one who isn't a brother, Bob Crawford, had been in Memphis the previous year with his daughter who had been at St. Jude due to a brain tumor. So it was very touching to hear them talk about that and they had incredible energy the whole night. I was still practicing using my new iPhone camera, but got a few shots that turned out all right, nothing great. They finished off the night with a great encore before I made it back to the car in time to hear the Cardinals incredible comeback against the Washington Nationals to win the NLDS. Saturday I ran in the LeBonheur Pumpkin Run 5K and had a good time despite a light night out on Friday. It was a busy day with a birthday party for a cousin at Incredible Pizza with the kids before I joined Katie that night at the Pink Palace for the wedding of her friend Abbie. It was quite a crazy, but fun weekend. In the next post our travels continue.
