Saturday afternoon after the Cochon Butcher we went back to the convention center, touring the exhibit hall, getting lots of freebies, and learning a little bit too. We went to a reception for residents that was out in a courtyard before we headed back to Bourbon Street searching for oysters. Since the wait at the Acme Oyster House and Felix's was so long we ended up at a place called Desire Oyster Bar at the Royal Sonesta Hotel. We had some delicious fried BBQ oysters and then I got some raw oysters. Katie got shrimp and grits which was delicious also. Then we walked down Bourbon Street all the way out to Frenchman Street. There we went into the Balcony Music Club where we heard a bluesy R&B band called Lil Red and the Big Bad. It was really a lot of fun sitting in a smoky New Orleans bar and listening to some good old blues music. We called it a relatively early night and went to Jackson Square and Cafe Du Monde the next morning for our coffee and beignets. It was wonderful and sugary as always. More food and music to come!
