A Week in Middle TN

A little over a month ago I went up to Nashville on a Wednesday with a few other residents to lobby on Capitol Hill. It was the TNAAP (Tennessee Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics) Day on the Hill, so we went to advocate for several pieces of legislation. Our main goal was to lobby for a bill about concussions. We got to meet with several local legislators throughout the day, including Senator Ophelia Ford for over an hour. It was quite an experience. We also sat in on a Health Subcommittee meeting and met with a few folks from the TNAAP. We went to a little reception that night where we met a few more legislators and a few folks from different hospitals around the state. We had a great day and it was really cool to see behind the scenes a little bit. That same weekend Katie and I went to Montgomery Bell State Park with our Life Group for our annual retreat. We had great fellowship and enjoyed great food and company while also doing a Bible study. It all made for a great week and weekend up in Middle Tennessee.
