Interview Trail, Episode 2: University of Kentucky

Thursday night we set out from Columbus in our rental car towards Lexington, Kentucky, for my interview the next day at the University of Kentucky. We had a Kia Sportage, which we actually both liked. It was quite roomy and drove nicely as well. We got in too late to go to dinner with the residents, but got to enjoy some time in the Hilton Suites that they put us up in. My interview went great the next day; there was a fun bunch of residents and a lot of positives as they are building new facilities. Katie of course slept in and shopped some more. We went by the Keeneland Racetrack on our way out of town, and it was beautiful. Seabiscuit and several other horse movies have been filmed there, and something like seven of the twenty entrants in this year's Kentucky Derby were sold there or trained there. We also took a scenic route past some of the training stables and houses, which made for a beautiful drive as the sun set on the fall foliage. We stopped in Nashville on the way to home to exchange our rental for Katie's car and made it in just after midnight. Next up is this Friday at the University of Arkansas, whose medical school and residencies are run out of Little Rock. More to come.
