Interview Trail, Episode 5: East Carolina University

Our next adventure found our hero waking up at an ungodly hour to drive him and his princess to the Nashville airport. Unfortunately, he realized halfway there that although he had indeed brought the camera, he forgot to get the battery out of its charger. Thus, there are no pictures from this trip. We flew into Raleigh, NC, where we got our luxury rental car and drove to Greenville, NC. Our Expedia expert, Katie, found our wonderful car deal, where the luxury was cheaper than the compact, so that we rode in style. We arrived in Greenville, checked into the Hilton there, and went out exploring. We drove around the East Carolina football stadium, and campus, and then went downtown, which they call Uptown because it is actually located at the northern end of the city. We ate at a brewery called Ham's, where I had an excellent Pale Ale. We did some more driving around, including around the hospital area, before we went back to the hotel to rest before dinner. We went with three residents and several other applicants to a Mexican restaurant called Chico's, which was all right. The next day I did the usual dog and pony show at ECU and Katie spent the day shopping and reading and whatever else it is that she does on those days. We headed back to the Raleigh airport where we celebrated my birthday at AJ's Tavern, named for Old Hickory, Andrew Jackson. Our flight was coming in from Philly and had been delayed there, so we had about three hours of beer drinking and people watching, which became quite a fun way to spend a birthday at the airport. More to come on my actual birthday celebration later.
