We started out taking Drew to the Memphis Fire Museum this morning. He was in heaven two minutes after we got there because they had a train going around part of one of the displays. It was a ton of toy fire trucks that was one man's collection that had been donated to the museum. Other than that it was mostly like a trip to see Papa at work and getting to climb on the trucks. There were a lot of really old trucks that he wasn't allowed on and a lot of other stuff that would have been nice to read about had we not had a two year old pulling at us to run to the next exhibit. But we had a fun time looking at all they had and Drew got a package of fire vehicles that he loves because it happened to come with a motorcycle as one of the cars for some reason.
Tonight Katie and I met our friends and fellow med students, Neal and Jen, at the Arcade Restaurant downtown, the oldest one in Memphis. And I am pretty sure that was my first time to ever eat there. Pretty embarrassing for a life long Memphian I guess. Then we walked up and back down South Main looking at great little art galleries and other stores as part of the Trolley Tour that they have down there on the last Friday of every month. Another first for me. It was perfect weather for being outside and even greater for people watching, especially seeing the occasional zombie since it was the night of the Zombie Walk downtown. When we finished it was only about 8:30 so we decided to catch the end of the Redbirds game. We got to see the all time saves leader, Trevor Hoffman, pitch for the Sounds and give up a run to the Redbirds. Then the Redbirds won it in the bottom of the ninth. What a great night for baseball. Now I am sitting on my patio with a beer in my hand typing this as a perfect day in Memphis draws to a close.

Jeremy still has yet to eat at the Arcade, but it, along with Gus’s Fried Chicken are on our list to eat before we leave.
Sounds like a fun day. Oh have you taken him to the steam boat museum?
