Where's Pouncer?

We think that Cal may have taken him to Kentucky. We went to the Memphis vs. Ole Miss baseball game the middle of last week at AutoZone Park and thought there might be an off chance that he would be there. Nope. It was a great game and Drew did really well regardless, lasting to the seventh inning before he wanted to go, although we made him stick it out to the end. Well, last Saturday was the year end Pouncer Pals party at the Memphis baseball game at AutoZone. We had been telling Drew all week that we would see Pouncer. We got to the game early for the party. No Pouncer in sight. We lined up 30 minutes before the game to go on the field with the players and still no Pouncer. We went and stood on the first base line during the national anthem. No Pouncer. Drew had a good time, but we were bombarded the rest of the game with the question, "Where's Pouncer?" We were able to offset the questions somewhat when we got a baseball that had come into the stands before the game when the teams were warming up. The crowd was much smaller at this game than at the first, so Drew just wanted to run around everywhere and didn't make it past the fourth or so. We went to the opening game of the Redbirds season last night without him and saw the Redbirds win with a walk-off walk in the bottom of the tenth. Drew will get his next chance for baseball at the Redbirds game Saturday. He has to make it all the way through it to see the fireworks. In the meantime please come back Pouncer! And no more talk of Cal. We have a new coach! I am excited about what will hopefully become the Josh Pastner era at Memphis.

Pouncer is the cartoonish tiger that is the U of M's mascot. Drew watches him at all the football games and loves him.
