Cardinals Come To Town

Friday night Katie and I ventured down to my springtime home away from home, AutoZone Park, to see the local AAA affiliate, the Memphis Redbirds, take on the big leaguers, our beloved St. Louis Cardinals. For my birthday I got a package of Redbirds tickets that included about ten spring games, plus the tickets to the "Battle of the Birds" for the Friday night game. Before the game the Clydesdales trotted out for a truly unique Cardinals experience to open the season.

While the park was less than full, those who were in attendance were treated to an offense treat from the Cardinals. MVP Albert Pujols did not disappoint, going three for five, including a two-run home run, a bases clearing three-run double, and another double for good measure. One of my favorites, Ryan Ludwick, also added a two-run homer. While it wasn't much of a game, Katie and I definitely enjoyed getting to see the Cardinals and the chance to take in a little preseason baseball action, complete with our fill of ballpark fare featuring beer and hot dogs. I can't wait for the Redbirds season to start up and to go to the park to see a lot more baseball. Below are some pictures from the game, including the Clydesdales and a shot of Albert admiring his dinger leaving the park. Now only if I had a better camera...
