Day 4 was a busy day. So busy that I guess I didn't have time to take all that many pictures, as it was the lowest number by far with only twenty-something pictures to account for our entire day. We started off at the St. Louis Science Center at Drew's request. I had been there before, but it was Drew's first time and I'm sure he would already gladly go back. It's free to get in there, but there are certain exhibits that cost money. Drew and I paid to go in the Bodyworlds exhibit while Katie and Allie hung out. It was incredible. If you aren't familiar with the Bodyworlds then go here: http://www.bodyworlds.com/en.html. It is basically an exhibit of the human body using real bodies. The dissection and the way they are exhibited is just exquisite. Drew really did enjoy the first few minutes of it. Then it was me dragging him around and trying to read and absorb as fast as I could. There were no pictures allowed in there or I would have filled up the blog with those. It was quite an experience and if you ever have the chance to go you should take it. The human body is just amazing.
From there we went throughout the rest of the museum, building an Arch- which Drew almost knocked over onto another little girl, building bridges, and then crossing the interstate. This was always the part I remembered as a kid, getting to walk over the traffic and clock their speed on the radar gun. Drew had fun doing that, but he was more interested in trying out every telescope machine, all of which were just a little too high for him to use. They have an awesome space and flight exhibit too, which was really neat because Drew is starting to love learning about astronauts and outer space. In fact, he used all his money buying a space ship and some astronauts before we left. We also saw some dinosaurs, a weather exhibit, and some more things before we went through the gift shop and left.
I wasn't content to call it a day after just the Science Center. We went just a little ways into Forrest Park and then visited the St. Louis Zoo for a couple hours. It's free also, and it's a great zoo, but Katie and I both felt that we did a whole lot of walking without doing a whole lot of animal viewing though. We did see the penguins and the puffins, the grizzly bears, and then went on the safari walk through the rhinos, elephants, and various other animals. Apparently I had been too focused on our day to get everyone an actual lunch and Katie and Drew quickly starting dragging along and Drew even felt sick to his stomach. So I gave up on the rest of the Zoo and abandoned any thoughts about the art museum to find some dinner.
We headed to down to The Hill, the famous Italian district in St. Louis known for their delicious restaurants. We used some social media sites before selecting our choice, Guido's Pizzeria and Tapas, an unusual mix of Italian and Spanish dining. It had great reviews and it turned out to be an excellent selection. I mean, how can you go wrong when you're seated by an Italian grandmother, served by an Italian waiter, and sitting next to a table with a priest and nuns? Drew and I shared a pizza and got some shrimp tapas too. We had some delicious raspberry custard type dessert and some tiramisu before calling it a night and heading back to the hotel.
