Drew finished up his first T-ball season at the end of last month with a team party at the bowling alley. Each team member was given an award based on their most valuable contribution to the team. There was an MVP, Most Improved, Best Smile, Fastest Runner, and other fun awards. Drew was awarded Best Slider, as we have well documented with stories and pictures throughout the season. He was often known to slide into any base with complete disregard to the location of the baseball. He was also known to dive or slide for just about any ball when he was in the field, again usually with complete disregard to the location of the ball.
We had a great experience, a great team, and a great coach for our first endeavor into team sports. Drew was happy with his award and had fun at the party, but was not going to pose for a picture with his award. I decided to instead. We were finally able to coax one out of him, but he was still not going to smile as you can see below. He did good and had fun bowling, too, with the exception of one ball that he through down the wrong lane. The wrong lane was actually closed. I tried to chase after it, and I think I got it, but I also ended up on the ground with all of that oil all over my pants. I was not happy.
After the team party we went to the Bellevue Starlight Spectacular to see the fireworks and listen to the music. We had a great time with our church family as usual. You can see how far behind I am since I haven't even gotten to July 4th. I will get through that next and that will actually be the bulk of what went on in July, at least for me. It was quite a busy month at work. After that I hope to get to our fabulous vacation in St. Louis which we enjoyed last week.
