Yesterday we had the yearly joy of meeting this year's version of the Memphis Tigers Football Team, Pouncer, TOM III, the cheerleaders, and the Coach. It was a little early and a little hot, but we had a great time as always. Katie and Allie decided to sit this one out on account of the heat, but Drew, Gigi, and I braved the heat for a little fun in the sun. It was at Tiger Lane this year, a huge step up from the debacle on campus and at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse last year. TOM III is getting big as Drew noted immediately, big enough that Drew wouldn't pose for a picture with him. Actually he was too busy scouting out all the cheerleaders for pictures with them. We also saw and posed with both Pouncers. We even got to meet Coach Porter and get his autograph this year. We weren't able to last year because of the huge lines and heat to get into the Fieldhouse. Drew was brave enough to shake his hand and ask if the players would be running out of the Tiger head, but wasn't real keen on a picture yet. He said he wanted a few more wins before he would be willing to do that. We also saw some of the players and got a few autographs. Drew's highlight was probably getting to dunk one of the players in the dunk tank, a new addition this year. I'm pretty sure he was hanging out with Fred Smith's grandchildren at the dunk tank, as he was there to see his son Cannon, reformed QB and newly minted CB now. Afterwards the fam met up at Chili's for post-game celebration and silliness. We can't wait for the season to start and see what this year has in store. Either way, we'll always have fun.
