Interview Trail, Episode 0: University of Tennessee(Memphis)

I have heard the buzz out there. Many of you have been asking-What about UT? Did you interview there? Is there a chance of you staying here? To answer them all-yes. I didn't really get the idea about posting about my interviews until our first trip, mostly because I saw lots of cool things and had lots of cool pictures to share. The University of Tennessee-Memphis was actually my first interview. The wonderful people there decided to hold a special day of interviews and fun for UT students only since we have about ten people from our class going into Med-Peds. As usual we started with dinner the night before, at a resident's house, which was a great time to meet a few people I hadn't met yet and to hang out with the residents and my classmates. The next day we started out with a typical humor filled morning report at the Methodist University Internal Medicine program. Next we headed over to LeBonheur for an introduction to the program and a roundtable with the Peds Director. Then we met the new Chairman and Program Director for the Medicine department, followed by interviews with the Med-Peds, Peds, and Medicine Program Directors. We capped it off with a lunch at the Majestic Grill downtown. It didn't just end there though. A couple of nights later the Med-Peds and Internal Medicine programs joined up to provide all the UT students going into those fields a chance to join the staff and residents at Putt-Putt for some BBQ, arcade games, and Lasertron. It was pretty fun, but it had been a long time since I had played Lasertron and I unfortunately shot my own teammates a few times. So yes, I did interview at UT and I really enjoyed it, as I have my time here throughout medical school. I mean where else in the world are you going to see the craziness that goes on at the Med? Well, my match list is due February 25th so I have about a month left to decide how I want to rank these places. But for today I am a fan of the University of Memphis and want to say Go Tigers! Hopefully I won't jinx them by making this post on the day of the game. T-I-G-E-R-S! TIGERS!

Thanks for being so gracious in defeat. I guess the Vols really were in the potty though. Sorry I couldn't resist.
