This is the new hot thing on Facebook. Seriously, everyone is doing it. It's just 25 random facts about yourself. No prompts, no questions, just whatever you come up with to share with the world. Here is Katie's version.
1. My husband, Jason, is 2 years younger than me. I used to have a problem with this and even asked my mother if it was okay for me to go out on a date with him. She responded, "Sure, women outlive men anyway!" Now I tend to forget that there is any age difference.
2. I love my husband because he is brilliant and I am one of the few people who gets to see his weird funny side. Don't love that with the brilliancy comes a lot of perfectionism and stubborness.
3. When I was pregnant with Drew I really wanted a little girl and was actually upset that it was a boy. I tried to not let anyone know that though. Now I can't imagine my life without my beautiful, cuddly, sweet Momma's boy.
4. Growing up I never wanted to be anything besides a wife and mother. I never had a career that I saw myself doing. I only went to college for the experience and b/c I wanted to be an educated person for myself and my children.
5. I work 4 days a week now and stay home with Drew 1 day. Still can't believe I"m not a stay at home mom but I know that it is what is best for our family in this season of life. I long for the day that I can stay home although I do find satisfaction in feeling smart and valued in my job.
6. I am minus a top tooth. Two of my baby teeth were stuck together and when they fell out only one grew back in its place. When I look at myself in a picture it is the first thing I notice. I would love to have it fixed someday, if possible.
7. I secretly want a big dog too like Jason does but not sure if right now is the time to get it.
8. I grew up as a tom boy playing in the woods and crawling in ditches with my brother and his friends. I didn't start wearing make up until college (Thanks to my sorority sisters!) Now I frequently don't wear as much to work b/c I want to sleep longer and figure all I do is sit in a cubicle all day. I tell myself everyday to wake up earlier but most days don't succeed therefore I usually look different when not at work!
9. I am not an organized clean person. Jason hates this b/c he is very much one. I really love a clean house but never have one. One day I hope to accomplish this!
10. I can play the piano although I haven't played in years. I never liked playing for other people though, only for myself. I loved my parent's old house b/c I could shut the room door and play without anyone else being in there. I hope to have my piano back someday and start playing again.
11. I love reading. I was an English major in college. I'm happy that I have picked up my reading habit again.
12. I love music. All kinds. Listening to live music is one of my favorite things to do. I've lost count at how many times I've seen Sister Hazel and Dave Matthews Band.
13. I love movies and tv. DVR and DVDs are the best inventions, especially since having a child. I hear people complain about not liking certain movies b/c they aren't believable. I always respond that I don't watch to be reminded of my limitations but to forget about things for awhile.
14. Nothing makes me happier than a good love story. I like sappy tearjerker movies and Jane Austen books. I imagine myself in the heroines place!
15. I dislocated my knee when I was in 7th grade. It is a constant concern of mine that I will do it again. I couldn't enjoy snow skiing in Colorado b/c I always thought about falling. I LOVED taking in the scenary though.
16. I love the outdoors but do not get out in them enough. I am torn b/n whether I like the mountains or beach better.
17. I want a big family although somedays I wonder how I will handle more children.
18. I want to leave a legacy. I want to do something of value with my life. Haven't figured out yet what that is. I do know that raising my son to love the Lord and love life is a good start.
19. Jason and I started dating when he was 16 and I was 18. He broke up with me after I graduated college and we were "friends" for 2 years before officially dating again. As much as I hated it then and remind him of it when possible (!!), I'm happy we had our time apart and know that our relationship is stronger b/c of it.
20. I have a bad record of holding on to friends. I have had many different ones throughout my life and b/c of stupidity, distance, and life's complications have lost touch with many of them. As I grow older I realize that they have each had a purpose in my life and I value our time together. I hope that as I get older I can learn to stay in touch better.
21. I love fashion and interior decorating and wish I had more money to have everything I desire! I love my sister in law, Sarah, for being 6 years younger than me. I look to her to tell me what is fashionable.
22. College brought me two of the greatest women I know. Laura--the epitome of grace and beauty and Angel--strong and loyal. They have both taught me more about myself and made me a better person. #20 applies to them as well and I wish we didn't live so far away from one another.
23. I have to do this so I can tag Jason and he can make his own list. I have probably thought too hard about this and will wish I said something else!
24. I want to travel and see the world. I've seen much of the US thanks to numerous youth trips but can't wait to explore overseas.
25. The biggest thing in my life right now is waiting to find out where Jason's residency will be. I struggle with this daily. Somedays I want to move away and be independent and start a life somewhere other than Memphis. Other days I can't imagine leaving my family and raising kids without their help. I'm not sure if I can be the person who brings the grandkids in for a visit and then leaves but I don't know if that is just me being scared.
