Arlington Politickin'

Congratulations to my good friend, Jeff McKee, on his election to Arlington Alderman Position 3. It was a pleasure to get to work on his campaign with him. I had a blast putting out campaign signs with him a few weeks ago, reminding of me of putting out signs for Mayor Hackett with my dad when I was younger. I also put out some door knockers around our neighborhood last week and then I was out there waving at voters on Election Day. I know he will do a great job and represent my interests well. Just kidding. Unfortunately, my choice for mayor didn't win. I'm sure the winner, Mike Wissman, will do a great job, but I do have some of the concerns that have been voiced about him in the paper. He will be Mayor of Arlington and will also keep his seat on the Shelby County School Board. It will be interesting to see how he does representing both parties in light of Arlington hiring a consulting firm to evaluate establishing a municipal school district. I'm just glad that former Kix 106 morning DJ, Brian Elder, didn't win the election.

The results:

Alderman Position 3:
Jeff McKee: 728
Chris Burcky: 406
Steven Bierbrodt: 395
Claudia Horton: 336
