Celebrating the University of Tennessee

The University of Tennessee Health Science Center that is. Don't think I'm going that far as to celebrate the Volunteers on a Saturday. Go Gators! No, instead we are celebrating 100 years down at the old alma mater, UTHSC. I thought I would post the article from the Commercial Appeal today since I know some other fellow alumni may stumble upon here every now and then. It's definitely something that we can be proud to be a part of in our training.

We also had the pleasure of celebrating one of UTHSC's and LeBonheur's greatest assets, one of the smartest men I know, and one of my mentors, Dr. Russell Chesney, the other night at the Memphis Zoo. It was a reception in honor of him as he stepped down this year from the position of Chairman of Pediatrics, a position which he held for over 22 years. The chose the zoo because he had done so much work with polar bears and Vitamin D research. It was a great night which included a very nice presentation including the unveiling of Dr. Chesney's portrait that will hang in LeBonheur.

And then there is more terrible and national news about the Memphis football program. I would expect this from someone like Dan "The Devil" Wolken, but not Scott Cacciola. Both are former Commercial Appeal staffers by the way. We will be out there anyway today at the Liberty Bowl.
